You may have noticed I haven’t posted here for a little while. The reason being I’ve been swept up in some enormous changes lately: over the course of the last week, I quit my job, packed up my condo, moved out of L.A., and boarded a flight to Dublin, Ireland. Yes, IRELAND!!
You may wonder what I’m doing here? Over the next year, I’m going to be traveling the world, doing travel writing and creating art as I go! I’m in Ireland on assignment for Tourism Ireland, Examiner.com, and my online magazine Culture Vixen. From Ireland I’ll continue through Scandinavia then criss-cross Europe, later heading to other continents.
So look for travel-inspired art on this blog from here on. I’ll also be posting photos from the road and doing a bulk of my travel blogging at CultureVixen.com. If you’d like to follow along you can subscribe to the Culture Vixen RSS or sign up for the Culture Vixen Newsletter (delivered 2-5x a week as new posts go up).

The third part of my article in Culture Vixen magazine published today, packed with Florence’s greatest attractions. Check it out here:
Check out my guide to eating in Florence and discover the city’s best gelaterie too!
Florence, known in Italian as Firenze, is in my opinion absolutely the most beautiful city in the world. I fell in love with the city during a blissful year abroad studying art, art history and the Italian language. I hadn’t been back to Florence for over a decade and with such great expectations to live up to, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Today through this Sunday my art shop is running a sweet sale: free shipping worldwide on all orders! Check out my art prints, apparel, iphone accessories, stationary and more:
Got to spend last week out in Denver, visiting friends and family and working on a couple features for Culture Vixen magazine. It was a blast! Here are some favorite photos snapped from the trip:
(Also be sure to check out my latest article about epic Denver sculptures, including the wild horse that tragically killed its creator.)
I have always admired the work of Sandy Skoglund and finally got to see one of her installations in person! It was very red, and very cool to walk through a room of jumping foxes!
Specs: Pen & Ink, 50 minutes.
Location: Denver, Colorado.
This cool little glove shop was tucked into the corner of an old stone building on Via de’ Lamberti in the heart of Florence, facing Orsanmichele church. Loved the look of these leather gloves displayed on wooden faux hands!
I had heard great things about Lucca, a Tuscan fortress city surrounded by medieval walls near Pisa, Italy. The city was as charming as I was expecting to be, and had a great small town flavor.
One small detail I noticed right away were the windows. In Florence they are all rectangular for the most part. But here in Lucca, they were all rounded at the tops. I love Italian windows, almost always comprised of green shutters on yellow unwashed walls. (This one was no exception.)
